Chemical & Engineering News’ Amanda Yarnell reports from CHEMRAWN XII in Stellenbosch, a leafy university town just east of Cape Town, South Africa. Chemists from around the continent and the world have gathered here to discuss their efforts to ensure an adequate and sustainable supply of food for the people of Africa. CHEMRAWN, or CHEMical Research Applied to World Needs, is a standing committee of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry.
